Energy Solutions Center (ESC)

  • ESC - Delivering Tough Messages with Tact to Both Internal and External Customers (Virtual)

    Sep 5, 02:00 PM - 03:30 PM (ET)
The Energy Solutions Center is offering its 4th training webinar in conjunction with Vicki Flesher with InterAct Training Group on September 5th at 2PM Eastern. This program will educate gas representatives to enhance and improve customer service, management and sales skills. Vicki has worked with ESC for several years on various training and education programs. About this Training session: This session will focus on how to deliver difficult messages to internal and external customers. Often times, others in our own business aren’t as responsive as we need them to be, and this creates a barrier to delivering excellent service to our external customers. To build productive internal relationships, we need to find ways to communicate our needs and expectations, and to do so tactfully and diplomatically. This course will help us to do just that! Participants will also learn how to deliver bad news to external customers in a palatable way. How do we communicate that the customer needs to make a large financial contribution to the project, or that the customer’s expectation for the completion of the project can’t be met? The content in this webinar will explore a couple of simple models that can be used for delivering tough messages, both internally and externally. About the Speaker: Vicki Flesher owns InterAct Training Group, specializing in business development, customer service, and leadership and management development training. Her innovative methodologies assist clients in maximizing their return on the training investment. Vicki worked with ESC to develop its Customer Relationship Development training program and our 2022/2023 Leadership Development training. Individual rate: Regular rate is $197 per person, early bird discount is $179 through 8/30/24. Corporate Unlimited Access Rate: ESC is offering a corporate rate for unlimited staff registrations for this event. The regular rate is $1,950 and early bird rate is $1,750 good through 8/30/24. Gas Certification Institute (GCI)

  • GCI - SCADA Fundamentals Certification

    Aug 6 - 9, (ET)
Beyond just ensuring their systems are in compliance with shifting regulations and standards, SCADA operators want to implement best practices. This course enables the industry to stay current with standards and the processes to properly apply them to their operations. SCADA environments require unique management and security considerations than a traditional enterprise network environment. This course provides participants detailed understanding of industry standards as well as how to safely and properly safeguard against the typical vulnerabilities that exist in SCADA environments. The SCADA Fundamentals Certification course prepares controllers, operations managers and support personnel to meet the unique challenges in today’s energy industry. The added study of the complete lifecycle of alarm management and controller support technology creates advanced awareness and knowledge key to effective controller operations and overall operational integrity. #GCI

  • GCI - Back-Office Gas Measurement Fundamentals

    Oct 21 - 25, (ET)
The class will equip back-office professionals with the measurement fundamentals knowledge required to understand custody transfer practices, to identify and address common issues in measurement data, and to improve their interaction with field measurement personnel.  It emphasizes the importance of maintaining the integrity of measurement data throughout data collection, validation, and processing.  It teaches the fundamentals of gas measurement based upon AGA, API, and GPA standards, and provides context on how data should be processed, whether a company is using a commercial measurement software system, an in-house developed system, or outsourcing to a 3 rd  party. This course presents the fundamental concepts, terminology, standards, and best practices that natural gas custody measurement is based upon, focusing on the context needed by measurement analysts and other back-office professionals. While much attention is focused on the field custody transfer equipment and its operations, the data from the field devices must then be collected, validated, processed, and summarized prior to being used by accounting and other business units.  This course discusses validation of data to detect anomalies, errors, or missing data and how to address those issues, while maintaining the integrity of the custody transfer process. This class will not address navigation, use, editing, or configuration of specific measurement software systems, rather it equips users of these systems with the measurement knowledge needed to make sound decisions and to manage their workflow efficiently. Participants will receive a certificate of completion. #GCI

  • GCI - Fundamentals of Liquid Measurement

    Nov 5 - 7, (ET)
Virtually all hydrocarbons are bought and sold by volume; however, variations in component content and shrinkage due to molecular variation make it impossible to measure NGLs by volume. Measuring NGLs by mass, and subsequently calculating component volumes, demands accuracy and intimate knowledge of the processes involved. Learn the basics of properly measuring liquid to help your company control loss. Included is a brief history of flow measurement technology, various methods of liquid flow measurement currently in use, what can affect measurement accuracy and repeatability, and what to consider when selecting flow instrumentation for a particular application. By attending this instructor-led course, participants can return to their jobs and immediately apply the knowledge gained. Participants will receive a certificate of completion. #GCI

  • GCI - Advanced Fundamentals of Liquid Measurement

    Nov 12 - 14, (ET)
For participants who have completed our Fundamentals of Liquid Measurement course or for personnel who need to expand their on-the-job knowledge, this training provides a greater understanding of balance relationships through a combination of reviewing fundamental theories and examination of real-world case studies of volume and mass systems. Participants are given a factual case of measurement imbalance with supporting data to perform an investigative analysis and a systematic recommendation to resolve the imbalance and then to present their findings. By attending this instructor-led course, participants can return to their jobs and immediately apply the knowledge gained. Participants will receive a certificate of completion. #GCI
