APGA Testimony for Hearing on Generating Equity: Improving Clean Energy Access and Affordability

10-08-2020 11:37 AM

On October 1, the Subcommittee on Energy of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce (E&C) held a congressional hearing titled, “Generating Equity: Improving Clean Energy Access and Affordability.” APGA appreciated the committee taking the time to discuss the issues surrounding and opportunities to improve access to equitable and low-carbon energy, especially as they consider comprehensive legislation.

In response to this event, on October 7, APGA offered input about how equitable energy policy can be achieved with a balanced solution, benefitting both the environment and consumers, especially those facing increasing energy burdens. The letter submitted to the subcommittee’s leadership highlighted natural gas’s important role in ensuring that all Americans have access to clean, affordable, and resilient energy, in addition to discussing the value of safe and efficient natural gas appliances. Hopefully, the legislators on the E&C Committee will consider this input, as they pursue balanced, affordable energy solutions.

APGA staff will continue to monitor and update if any work progresses on energy legislation. To see APGA’s submitted testimony, click here. For questions on this article, please contact Stuart Saulters of APGA staff by phone at 202-544-1334 or by email at ssaulters@apga.org.
